Hundreds of children have learned to ride at Polmartin Riding and we like to think that the love for horses they gained with us will stay with them for ever. Whether it's riding lessons to improve their skills, a hack with the family or coming for the day we have a wide range of activities aimed at children from 5 years up.
The Saturday Club at Polmartin Riding is dedicated to the young rider who really wants to learn about horses, not just riding. They will have a group lesson of an hour and will also learn about stable management and help with grooming, feeding and mucking out. They are also encouraged to work towards their BHS Progressive Riding tests. Saturday Club runs from 10am to 4pm every week.
We have Youngster's Lessons if your child is between 5 and 8 and wants to start riding. These last 30 minutes and are at 3 or 3.30pm every Saturday and cost £15.
During school holidays we hold Theme Days, for example Jumping or Gymkhana days where the young riders can develop these skills and then put them into practise. Check our EVENTS page for upcoming Theme Days.
We also hold 3 day Riding Camps during the Easter and Summer school holidays. The young riders spend the days totally immersed in the world of ponies and horses and the camp always finishes with them putting on a show or competition for their friends and family to come and watch. The camp includes accommodation for two nights. Ages 10-16. Check our EVENTS page for this year's dates.
PLEASE NOTE: Children must be at least 5 years old to ride. At all times young riders are supervised by an adult who has undergone the necessary Disclosure and Barring Service approvals.Polmartin Riding adheres to the BHS and British Equestrian Foundation Safeguarding Policy which can be viewed HERE. All activities are subject to the rider being deemed able to participate safely and are at the sole discretion of the head instructor.
